intensive care unit

Our intensive care unit(ICU), is used when we need to keep a close eye on our patients. Every animal recovers here when waking up from anesthesia, and usually remains for a couple hours on IV fluids until either ready to go home or awake enough to be moved into other hospital rooms. Whenever we feel the need to hospitalize a patient they also stay here, so that we can monitor their progress. A baby monitor stays here so that the live-in nurses on duty during the night can keep an extra ear open when not doing regular checks. All cages have cage heaters on the bottom to keep patients warm when needed. The sliding glass door also allows our patients to have a little more peace and quiet when we have our occasional dog protesting treatment in the treatment room.
