WHO ARE WE?
Animal Care Clinic emphasizes a healthy and collaborative culture over profitability. Our team members are supported as individuals, and there is camaraderie instead of cliques and drama (we know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true!). We are also a little silly, calling ourselves a Barrel of Monkeys (linked arm in arm as we have FUN!). We take medicine seriously but believe life is to be enjoyed and experienced with a sense of humor.

This is what our team members say it is like to work here:

I chose ACC after vet school because the staff had more fun than anywhere I’d ever worked or interviewed. 24 years later and I still believe we have more fun together than any clinic I know of. Sure we work REALLY hard, but we care about each other and we actually enjoy each other and our time at work. This is a very rewarding, supportive environment where we are encouraged to practice best medicine by management and allowed to practice best medicine by our fantastic clients. The majority of our clients want the best possible care for their pets, and thankfully most of them are also able to afford it.

Our doctor team is an amazing bunch of people. We love to collaborate on cases as well as stay current on what’s happening in our lives.  We truly care for each other and support each other not just at work but through the hardships of life.  Our support staff is also amazing!  There is a lot expected of us, we maintain these great clients by providing fantastic customer service which sometimes means making sure phone calls are made before going home, but I KNOW I have much higher job satisfaction than my friends and classmates who work elsewhere.   24 year DVM team member

We can’t escape the crazy clients, rough cases, busy days in this career, but, man, is it ever fun to do it surrounded by well trained, easygoing team members with the ability to practice high level medicine in a collaborative space.  3 year DVM team member

At ACC we work with thoughtful, informed, devoted and appreciative pet owning clients.  Our workplace is supportive of each other and we always encourage success in and out of the clinic.  We value excellent medicine and we have the freedom to treat our cases with all appropriate resources.  20 year DVM team member

This is true “working as a team.” Knowing I am supported by my coworkers and my ideas/opinions are valued. Positive attitudes, professional advancement and perfect place to live and work.  21 year admin team member

This is a great place to grow, and no matter what, we are always trying to improve.  Fear-free techniques are the game changer, and I am so proud we embrace this philosophy!   9 year RVT team member

My favorite part about working at Animal Care Clinic is that I’ve never had the same day twice. Everyday is fresh and I enjoy working with a team that supports each other.  10 year CSR team member

With teamwork at its heart this high functioning business maintains the feeling of a small family practice. All the voices on our team matter while the clinic’s culture develops with our ever expanding community.  3 year CSR team member

Being a relatively new member to ACC, it has been a transition for the better. Leaving my corporate job where I felt like a number is a thing of the past. The ACC family has welcomed me with open arms. I feel like I have a say and an opinion that matters. Here, change is embraced and we use a collaborative concept to make decisions and forward change.  1 year Nursing team member

ACC is a group of people that care. They care about animals and they care about each other, which makes me feel like I have a family at work. I feel like I am climbing up a rock and I have a huge pad underneath me, because I am constantly challenged but I always have a solid support system if I slip.   1 year Nursing team member

THE JOB:
A typical week for a full time DVM at ACC will include 3 days of seeing dogs and cats in the exam room and one day of anesthetic procedures (surgery and mainly dentistry). You would also be involved in our Saturday rotation. We currently have 6 support staff/DVM and 2 RVT’s/DVM so you can focus on being a doctor. While the team will support you with much client communication, we do expect a personal touch from our doctors which generally involves at least an hour of phone call each day. We do not see patients after-hours or on Sundays, but do take urgent cases during our regular hours (7:30-6pm weekdays & 9-3 Saturdays). We close for 2 hours every Wednesday morning for staff training and expect our DVM’s to be teachers for our team. Our doctor team meets formally monthly, but sits together all day to collaborate on cases and support each other in other ways too! You can expect mentoring meetings at least monthly and 360 reviews at least once a year. As a privately owned company, there is the opportunity for you to work in management or potentially buy-in to the company.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
So, who is our ideal candidate? You must have an active CA Veterinary license in good standing at the time of hire. You must have an interest in Fear Free patient and human care, high quality dental skills (including reading dental radiographs and performing surgical extractions), an interest in teaching both clients and team members, and enough experience to work on your own needing guidance/mentorship on 10% or fewer of your cases. We want doctors who are positive, hopeful, encouraging and fun to work with. You must practice exemplary medicine, but know when it is time to refer. We require all of our doctors to become Fear Free Certified and maintain that status along with participating in at least 10 hours of scientific CE each year (50 hrs preferred!). We want someone who is laid back, can think outside the box, break some rules now and then, and make our team & clients laugh. Being a fan of the Princess Bride or Monty Python & The Holy Grail is also a plus!
